Planning Solutions Consulting Limited was commissioned by Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council to carry out a soft market testing and consultation exercise for a new cinema operation at the Regent Cinema site in a prominent seafront location in Redcar.

Over the past few years, the Council has made large scale investment into enhanced facilities in the town and major improvements in its public realm. It has transformed Redcar into a vibrant place to live, visit and do business. The Council’s vision is to achieve Redcar’s investment potential through the delivery of high-quality cultural, leisure and business developments in the town, which will build on the success of recent schemes and capitalise on the unique seafront location. The new cinema operation will form an integral part of the wider seafront regeneration strategy.

The Council has already invested £75m in the seafront over the last five years and this has led to the development of:

• Tuned In! – an arts and media centre
• The Palace Hub – a workplace for creative industries
• Redcar Beacon – coastal viewing tower incorporating a bar and wedding venue
• Redcar Leisure and Community Heart – Redcar’s civic heart, business centre and leisure centre
