White Rock – Heritage Visitor Research Survey

White Rock Visitor Research Survey

Client: Friends of White Rock

The White Rock Copper Works were one of the most important copper smelting works in the Lower Swansea Valley. Located on the banks of the River Tawe the White Rock Copper Works were established in 1736. The copper works have long since closed but White Rock Industrial Heritage Park is now a small parkland and includes a Scheduled Monument, a Grade II Listed Dock, Smith’s Canal Basin and Tunnel and the Great Workhouse.

The Friends of White Rock commissioned Planning Solutions Consulting to carry out a module of visitor research. The primary visitor research helped to build up a detailed understanding of who and why people are visiting White Rock Industrial Heritage Park, including:

  • Participant’s knowledge of White Rock
  • Frequency of visits
  • Dwelltime
  • Motivations for visiting White Rock
  • The quality of the ‘White Rock Experience’
  • Future development opportunities
  • Alongside the profile of users of White Rock

The research was promoted by Swansea Council and the Friends of White Rock. To find out more about the Friends of White Rock please click here.
