Event planning and feasibility studies: Assessing opportunities for events and developing event strategies

We work with clients to assess the opportunities for developing event programmes and strategies, we carry out feasibility studies for events and we also help clients to enhance existing event programmes.

It is important to recognise that locally, events can be attractive to host communities because they help to develop local pride and identity. In addition, they play an important role for the regions in terms of destination planning and development. Some positive aspects of successful programme of events include:

  • Events as image makers
  • Economic impact generators
  • Tourist attractors
  • Overcoming seasonality
  • Contributing to the development of local communities and businesses
  • Supporting key industrial sectors

However, it is important to recognise and mitigate against the potential negative impacts of events, particularly signature events. A community may experience problems with an event by being unable to cope with the influx of people. This could manifest itself in terms of traffic congestion or crime and vandalism or impacting negatively on the community.
