Supporting the Centre for Alternative Technology
Client: Centre for Alternative Technology
Since the 1970s, the Centre for Alternative Technology (CAT) has been pioneering environmental charity.
Developed in a former slate quarry, near Machynlleth in Mid Wales, CAT is a leading environmental learning centre with a focus on sustainable development. The Graduate School of the Environment at CAT delivers a range of engaging courses – from postgraduate degrees through to practical ‘hands-on’ short courses. School-based programmes are also delivered at CAT. There is onsite accommodation available, a supporting café and conference / meeting room facilities. This is alongside a visitor attraction offer with a funicular railway, exhibition and interpretation offers and wider landscape to explore.
The CAT Cynefin project is a £25 million redevelopment programme focussed on targeted investment, over a phased basis, to upgrade the existing onsite facilities and transform and re-launch CAT and the visitor experience.
Planning Solutions Consulting have been commissioned to work with the Senior Management Team to assess the opportunity linked to the visitor attraction element of the transformational project
