Self Catering Accommodation Feasibility Study, Staunton Country Park

country-parks-events-incomeClient: Hampshire County Council

Working as country park consultants on behalf of Hampshire County Council we assessed the opportunity to introduce tourist related accommodation within Staunton Country Park, which includes a heritage farm attraction and attractive parkland to help increase income generated and attract new markets.  A range of accommodation types were assessed including: forest lodges; wooden tents and pods; camping and caravanning and luxury yurts. We carried out a detailed study which included: a site assessment, a market review of tourism trends in Hampshire with a focus on short breaks in the self-catering sector; a detailed review of comparable operations as examples of best practice; consultation with key stakeholders; an options appraisal to identify the preferred development route and a financial assessment with capital expenditure.

The study identified the preferred development option in terms of tourist accommodation for Staunton Country Park and established the main financial parameters for the respective accommodation options. Find out more about Staunton Country Park. Photos kindly supplied by Hampshire County Council.
