For this project, PSC supported the Estate’s retained planning advisor to consider and assess lead opportunities for the extensive estate property and land. This included tourism and hospitality uses including high end hotels through to a retirement village type concept. Our review included a detailed site and property assessment including the house, its curtilage, the walled garden and grounds.

We carried out a review of tourism uses in the context of the current and future marketplace, alongside a wider review of UK domestic and inbound tourism. Our work included a detailed review of the hotel sector and its performance with a particular emphasis on hotels in heritage properties. We produced a detailed scoring matrix as an options appraisal in determining the most suitable uses and suggested way forward.

We referenced a range of examples of hotels and other investment partners which could have close synergy with a hotel development at the estate prior to the Estate moving forward with a soft market testing exercise.
