Historic House Consultants
Planning Solutions Consulting has worked on a wide range of projects at historic houses, heritage properties and estates across the UK. Our work includes market assessments, operational reviews, and feasibility studies, as well as preparing masterplans, visitor management plans and revenue-generation strategies. We also prepare supporting business plans to secure capital funding. Much of this work focuses on uses related to tourism, hospitality, leisure and recreation – helping owners and managers of historic properties identify sustainable, commercially realistic ways forward.
Historic house and estate projects
- Forty Hall, a Grade I listed Jacobean manor house managed by Enfield Council. We were commissioned to review the current business operations to identify and evaluate revenue-generation opportunities to help build a resilient business model.
- Llancaiach Fawr Manor is a Grade I listed manor house. We carried out a feasibility study to assess the viability of introducing visitor accommodation within the grounds of the manor house.
- National Trust for Scotland. We were commissioned to advise on pay barrier options and the admissions experience at a historic property, including the wider estate.
- Golden Grove. Working within a multi-disciplinary team, we carried out a feasibility study to identify and evaluate opportunities to take forward the restoration of both the mansion house and the stable block, both of which are Grade II* listed
- Private estate. Commissioned by the landowner to identify and assess future options for a historic house in the South of England with a focus on tourist accommodation uses.
- Rempstone Estate. We carried out a feasibility study to introduce 22 luxury lodges within the grounds.
- Elan Valley Trust. We carried out a feasibility study to assess future visitor accommodation uses of Cwm Clyd Farmstead, which currently offers a bunkhouse style of accommodation
