Glentress Forest covers approximately 3,800 acres and Planning Solutions Consulting were commissioned by Forest Holidays to carry out a site assessment and market review to help evaluate the opportunity. The work included assessing the forest location in terms of a detailed site appraisal, which included consultation with Forestry and Land Scotland. The market assessment evaluated the size of the available residential market place in terms of the short breaks catchment alongside the tourism profile of the sub-region. A scoring matrix was used to evaluate the overall opportunity.
