CONKERS, the award-winning visitor attraction at the heart of The National Forest, has welcomed its three millionth ever visitor during the May half term week. CONKERS is managed by our sister company Planning Solutions Limited. CONKERS opened to the public in April 2001 on the site of the former Rawdon Colliery at Moira, near Ashby-de-la-Zouch on the borders of Leicestershire and Derbyshire. In the past 14 years, CONKERS has seen many changes including the introduction of a 450 metre Barefoot Walk sensory experience, new adventures with Outdoor Activity Pursuits including kayaking and archery, as well as the forthcoming High and Low Ropes aerial experience (opening in July 2015) that includes High and Low Ropes courses, a Climbing Wall, Powerfan Descender and fast and furious Zip Wire. Chris Sturdy, Regional Operations Manager at CONKERS said: “We were delighted to welcome the Robbs family as our three millionth visitor. This milestone shows the enduring appeal of CONKERS with its fantastic mix of indoor and outdoor activities.
“We’re launching a new High and Low Ropes experience soon that we hope will draw in even more visitors and families, and look forward to our visitor numbers reaching the next million,” Chris continued.
