Client: Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council
We completed a market demand assessment and feasibility study to identify market interest and the financial viability of developing a Coastal Activity Hub in Coatham in Redcar, which will support community activities and will be a distinctive element within the wider Coatham Seafront Regeneration project. The wider seafront regeneration development will include an adventure golf offer, high-quality themed play area and hotel. The Coastal Activity Hub will maximise the untapped potential of Redcar’s stunning coastline. It will host a diverse range of exciting activities, sports and events. Its infrastructure and facilities will enable water, beach, and land-based activities such as windsurfing, kiteboarding, walking, horse riding, running, cycling and yoga. This will allow Redcar to position itself as a destination for coastal events and activities. A key element of the work was a programme of engagement with interested parties and stakeholders (from officers in the council through to sports clubs, education providers, healthcare providers, local businesses, community groups and youth workers) to identify ‘market/users demand and requirements’ for the coastal activity hub. The feasibility study also included a market assessment – including a review of the demographic profile, review of case examples, assessment of governance and delivery options and a 10 year financial model.
