Canalside Site Options Appraisal

Client: Canal & River Trust
Planning Solutions Consulting has been commissioned to carry out an options appraisal for a canalside site owned by the Canal & River Trust. A key part of the assessment is to identify and evaluate options that will keep the site operational for the Trust while also supporting new uses. The creation of new facilities will support the Trust’s objectives to engage a wider audience, provide more volunteering opportunities, increase the Trust’s brand awareness, and strengthen the financial sustainability of its assets.

The Canal & River Trust was formed in 2012, as part of the largest-ever transfer of public assets to the voluntary sector. The purpose of the Trust is to protect, manage and improve the nation’s canals and river navigations for the millions who enjoy them. The Canal & River Trust look after and bring to life 2,000 miles of waterways and thousands of listed structures, with over 8 million people in England and Wales living within a few minutes’ walk of the canal network.
