Bedgebury National Pinetum, Landscape Masterplan

BedgeburyClient: Forestry England
Bedgebury National Pinetum covers 130-hectares of land at Bedgebury Forest which sits within the High Weald AONB. The Pinetum combines the management of a living collection of trees from all over the world alongside locally important grass and heathland habitats. The diversity has resulted in a rich fauna and flora which gives it a designation as a Local Nature Reserve and areas of Bedgebury National Pinetum are also designated as a Grade II Listed Park and Garden and Plantations on Ancient Woodland Sites (PAWS).

TEP were commissioned to prepare a landscape masterplan for Bedgebury National Pinetum. The masterplan sets out how the unique tree collection of national and international importance and its heritage landscape will be managed. The landscape masterplan also considers existing site amenities, visitor circulation, plant collections, scientific research interest, education, events and activities. Planning Solutions Consulting’s work focussed on stakeholder engagement, carrying out a module of primary research, reviewing existing visitor data and carrying out a market assessment to help inform the development of the landscape masterplan.
