Barbury Castle Visitor Centre Feasibility Study

Barbury Castle Country Park Feasibility StudyBarbury Castle Visitor Centre Feasibility Study

Client: Breathe Barbury CIC
We evaluated the feasibility of creating a purpose-built café and visitor centre to raise the profile of Barbury Castle and the North Wessex AONB, and to help visitors feel part of the area’s distinctive geography, history and natural environment.

The proposed project aims to create a visitor centre with a strong education focus that would significantly enhance the experiences of existing visitors and attract new users, including education-based group visits. Breathe Barbury is intended to operate as a social enterprise, run by local people and volunteers for the benefit of the wider community.

The scope of the feasibility study included validating assumptions with user groups and interested parties, as well as identifying new user groups that could be attracted to the site and the facilities needed to support them. We also considered potential funding bodies for both capital investment and ongoing operations, assessed the business’s viability and sustainability to inform the business plan, and set out future visitor numbers.
