Self Catering Accommodation Feasibility Study, Staunton Country Park

Country Park Tourist Accommodation StudySelf Catering Accommodation Feasibility Study, Staunton Country Park

Client: Hampshire County Council
Working on behalf of Hampshire County Council, we assessed the opportunity to introduce tourist-related accommodation within Staunton Country Park, which includes a heritage farm attraction and an attractive Regency parkland to help increase income generated and attract new markets.  A range of accommodation types were assessed including: forest lodges; wooden tents and pods; camping and caravanning and luxury yurts. We carried out a detailed study which included: a site assessment, a market review of tourism trends in Hampshire with a focus on short breaks in the self-catering sector; a detailed review of comparable operations as examples of best practice; consultation with key stakeholders; an options appraisal to identify the preferred development route and a financial assessment with capital expenditure. The study identified the preferred development option for tourist accommodation at Staunton Country Park and established the main financial parameters for the respective accommodation options.
