Business Planning, Big Parks Project Peacehaven

Client: Lewes District Council

We worked with the client team to help establish the business case for a new park for this coastal town. The new park is part of wider infrastructure works on an adjacent site by Southern Water. With funding from Southern Water and two Bovis housing developments, some £2 million was provided to create a new flagship recreation facility in Peacehaven. Our work incorporated: A review of the strategic positioning of the park; a market assessment including a demographic analysis, a review of the competitive landscape and latest trends within the parks sector; identifying priority market segments and user needs and a financial review including income generation potential and associated operational costs.  We also advised on the production of a marketing plan and risk assessment.

The outcome has resulted in the opening of Big Park, the multi-leisure recreation destination for the community which incorporates a cafe, skate park, large play area all within the attractive parkland setting. Interestingly the park is of significant archaeological interest and is part of the largest area of archaeological investigation in the South of England.
