Snibston Museum was a multi-award winning visitor attraction in north west Leicestershire, located on the former Snibston Colliery which closed in 1983 having run for 150 years. In 1992 an industrial heritage museum and country park were opened on the site by the new owners Leicestershire County Council. A number of the colliery buildings are Scheduled Ancient Monuments and are listed on the Heritage at Risk Register (English Heritage July 2008).

Planning Solutions Consulting prepared a HLF Evaluation Plan for a major development project at Snibston with the theme of ‘Mining Lives’. The aim was to design and implement an evaluation plan to, particularly in terms of monitoring and evaluating the effect and outcomes associated with the interactive Mining Lives project and to integrate and improve operational efficiency for the whole Museum.
