Bedgebury National Pinetum and Forest is located in Kent covers over 800 hectares. Prior to the introduction of new visitor facilities the Pinetum was known as a specialist arboretum which had limited appeal amongst the general visitor market with limited visitor infrastructure. We carried out a feasibility study to develop the offer including introducing a visitor centre, walking and mountain biking trails alongside supporting visitor infrastructure to increase market appeal and access. We also advised on operational considerations.

Bedgebury has become one of the premier destinations for outdoor leisure and recreation in the south east, with a strong community and education focus. The work helped to support a successful funding application for £2.1 million.

Visitor numbers have increased from 40,000 to 270,000; there has been a growth in the cycling club and cycle skills training; a Go Ape facility and there is a high level of repeat visits which is critical for the successful operation of a visitor attraction (55% of visitors come to Bedgebury more than once a month).
