HLF business planning consultancy project Ditherington Flax Mill Maltings, Shrewsbury

Dithering Flax Mill MaltingsClient: Shropshire Council

Ditherington Flax Mill Maltings located in Shrewsbury is a unique and internationally important site which has recently been awarded £12.8 million in HLF funding. It contains seven listed buildings including the first cast-iron framed building considered to be the world’s first ‘skyscraper’.

Working on this Heritage Lottery Fund business planning consultancy project we produced the HLF business plan for parts of the restoration project relating to the main heritage and leisure facilities. This involved a market assessment and financial review of the proposed visitor elements of the project including revenue generating elements. The wider project includes proposed residential and commercial uses. We worked alongside Activity Planner Marion Blockley a leading heritage and interpretation expert on behalf of the client team including English Heritage, Shropshire Council and the Friends of the Flaxmill Maltings.

Our work has been used to support the successful bid to the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF).Find out more here.
