The project will create a heritage trail of churches and chapels across Conwy, allowing visitors to explore the history, culture and landscape, as well as the importance of the places of worship within the communities.
Church tourismMonday, August 9th, 2010A church tourism group has been formed by the Diocese of York to reflect the growing interest by tourists in churhces and cathedrals. The group will provide visitors with an enhanced experience of Christian history, help churches to provide a welcoming ministry to visitors, provide promotional material such as brochures and website and share good practice in church tourism. Church Tourism is worth over £300m to the economy.
Church tourismFriday, August 6th, 2010The Rotherham Church Tourism Initiative has been awarded a grant of £281,500 by the Heritage Lottery Fund. The grant will help develop the heritage, education and tourism potential of the churches as well as helping the towns and villages in which they are located. The grant will help improve access to churches. A full-time project manager, development worker and part-time volunteer co-ordinator will be employed. There will be a programme of events, visits, open days, exhibitions, walks, concerts and activities over a period of three years. |
